Guidelines for Compare/Contrast Paper

·         Write an introduction to your paper explaining what you’re setting out to do.  Choosing a specific narrow scope (like the differences between Rooster (or Mattie or La Boeuf) in the book and each other movies… the overall tone (Biblical?  Not biblical?)) will probably help.
 

·         True Grit (1968 BOOK) & True Grit (1969 MOVIE)

o   Include at least five pertinent quotes demonstrating how you interpreted the book versus how the movie director interpreted the book.  Cite page numbers like this (Portis, 5).

o   Consider how this affects the overall FEELING and MEANING of the movie.
 

·         Go through the same process for True Grit (1968 BOOK) & True Grit (2010).

·         Decide which movie version is true to the book (one paragraph).

·         Decide which movie version you like more (one paragraph) and explain why.
